I think Congressman Canfield was the best beau for Aunt Bee. He had the best character of all the other guys that she associated with. Just like Congressmen and Senators today, he served his constituents faithfully along with going out a having a good time. He was also familiar with bizarre happenings in Washington D.C. like the visitor in 1951 from 'The Day the Earth Stood Still.' He was still serving in the House of Representatives then. Bee even met the Carpenter in D.C.
