Article in the paper yesterday saying the Barney statue is off. There will
not be one in Morgantown, nor will there be one in Mt. Airy. The family does
not want Don Knotts portrayed as the bumbling Barney Fife, but rather to
portray him for his artistic ability.
To me, Barney was one of his greatest artistic creations. No man but Don
could have done what he did with that character. I wish they would reconsider.
