Re: Did I miss it? During the Academy Awards program I watched all the names of the fine talents that left us this past year, and I didn't see Dennis Weaver, Darren McGavin or Don Knotts.
I believe (at least I hope) that the Academy recognizes the departed by calendar year, which would mean that those three fine actors you mentioned will be named next year. They better be! Yesterday I was honored to attend Darren McGavin's funeral at Hollywood Forever cemetary, and afterwards met some of his family and co-stars who spoke so highly of him. Such a strong, vibrant actor who I always enjoyed no matter what he was in. I didn't even know he had been ill, but let me tell you that when I went up to pay my last respects he didn't even look like I remembered - so small, frail, and old-looking. I know he was eighty-three, but he's always looked about ten years younger than he really was. His suffering is over. The family had some photos set up in the foyer of the chapel and I noticed our own Don in a scene with Darren - "Hot Lead and Cold Feet". Two of the great ones, together. John of SoCal "I didn't think you meant moving; I just thought you meant dying!" _______________________________________________ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://mail.wbmutbb.com/mailman/listinfo/wbmutbb_wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
