I just happened to think back to my Navy days and there was a Barney Fife moment if there ever was one! I worked with the Naval Security Group and each building had an armed guard at the door. When changing guard, the one on duty had to remove his weapon, a .45 automatic, pull the slide back and release it, and the aim toward the ceiling and pull the trigger to show there was no cartridge in the chamber. During one changing of the guard, the inevitable happened....BLAM...a hole in the ceiling! Well, the Officer in charge of the guard detail went down and really lit into the guy who did it! He said, "Give me that gun and let me show you the proper way to do it." He pulls the slide back and lets it go back into its position, points it to the ceiling and..... BLAM!!! Two holes in the ceiling!!! That was the talk of the base until I left a couple months later to head to the Paradise of the Pacific, Midway Island!!! No pun intended, it was a paradise and still is!! That was before Andy and Barney, so we couldn't even refer to it back then. To tell the truth, it happened in 1957!!! welford TheMayberryPhoto-grapher... _______________________________________________ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://mail.wbmutbb.com/mailman/listinfo/wbmutbb_wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
