Howard robbed the bank in one of the Mayberry RFD episodes. Goober captured him in his getaway car when the car wouldn't start and Goober was trying to help him start it. The bank clerk came out and recognized Howard and saw the money in the back seat. Howard had a nylon stocking over his head and used a squirt gun. Howard was locked up and Goober was trying to decide what to do. Howard was trying to prove to the town council how inept Goober was as the part-time sheriff. Goober was taking classes at this time and had a certificate naming him as the official "lawman" for Mayberry.
