Can anyone tell me who was the original artist/painter of the water tower in
Mt Airy?

Thanks,

>>>While enjoying Season Three this weekend, I began to wonder what happened
to all the Mayberry squad cars once the season changed way back when. I know
that we have had several replicas for sale here over the years. I just
wondered what the show did with the cars when done with them.
>>>

All of the original squad cars (and most of the other cars in Mayberry as
well) were supplied by a nearby Ford dealer. This is why 99% of all the
cars we ever see in Mayberry are Ford products. Each year when the new
Galaxie came out, one was provided to the studio who had it made up into a
squad car, and the old car was returned to the dealer, who repainted it and
sold it as a used car. Therefore, nobody knows where any of the original
squad cars are now. It's extremely unlikely that any of them are still on
the road today.

A while back, it was rumored that Gene Autry had bought one of the original
Mayberry squad cars, and that it has been in storage somewhere on his ranch
all these years. Whether this is true or not, I can't say.

Re: "The Darlings Are Coming" etc., Season 3 - missing epilogs/poor visual
quality - TV Land & the local stations here in the Los Angeles area have shown
both episodes that have the epilogs in them and the quality is vastly
superior to what Paramount is offering in it's DVD versions - Also there are
plenty
of TAGS fans that have copies that are better quality as well as having the
epilogs - Paramount just flat dropped the ball - rushed job - Paramount
should have sent notices seeking better quality copies from TAGS followers
etc.,
before they started selling the 3rd Season - lets hope season 4 isn't in the
same shape - it's due before years end - that's why I've transferred my taped
copies to DVD so as to save them - enough said/end of subject - "Get Over It"

The epilog for Barney Mends a Broken Heart does exist because TV Land includes
it when they show this episode. It is strange that TV Land has it and still
Paramount didn't include it on the DVD.

Sorry bout the double post. I didnt think my first email went thru since
I got a digest after I sent it. I thought maybe it was to long so I tried to
break it
up into two emails but somehow only the orignal and part 2 of my second try
made it thru
I guess part one got lost too.

As for the "Jud and Darlene dancing" that was supposed to be Dud not Jud.

My thoughts & prayers are with all of those neighbors who live or have Kinfolk
in the areas effected by the Hurricane. As I have watched the news reports with
the pictures of so many devestated areas, my heart goes out to those who have
lost so much.

Ward took June and the boys camping (see June in blue jeans) and in the
morning he started singing "Juanita". So that makes Deputy Barney Fife,
Jim Anderson, and now Ward Cleaver who sang "Juanita".

I agree and I'm sure that if Paramount would have included the lousy
kinescope scratchy portions (which appear to be all that exist anymore)
we'd have just as much fussin' and fighting.

I think they have already shown that quality is their name, DVD's are
their game, TICK-A LOCK

I had to go over to the dime store to buy another 10 foot
pole (it is surprising how fast one runs out of those things) and me and Laura
Lee Hobbs started talking about the time beautiful Susan Oliver came to the
Mayberry jail.
We recall Otis coming in feeling no pain, if you know what we mean, and Otis
got all mad because the boys wouldn't arrest him! Otis said he had rights and
was going to call
his attorney, so we guess that means, you, Mr. "My card, in case you ever need
my services," Bentley.

How did that conversation go: Let me understand your position correctly, Mr.
Campbell. You wanted to be incarcerated and they wanted to send you home to
your WIFE?
Why that's cruel and unusual punishment! This is America.
That kind of punishment won't be tolerated.

Of course, did your client fail to mention that he may have beaten up on Deputy
Fife? I thought so. But there were witnesses. We all heard Barney's little
scream (aghaay) as he was
dragged from the courthouse into the angry waiting arms of Mr. Campbell. We
could only imagine what awaited him in that car.

And that's why I have never been without my 10 foot pole since.

Lydia, you can attack my good name, you can criticize my good
taste, but you ain't never gonna send me into the angry arms of a waiting drunk
witout defense
