The houses on studio backlots are nothing but empty shells. If you were to
walk inside one of them, there would be nothing there but empty space, except
for maybe curtains and a little bit of furniture near the front windows, in
case a camera zoomed in close. Nearly all of the exteriors were filmed at 40
Acres in Culver City; the interiors were filmed at Desilu Studio, a few miles
away in Hollywood.

After further study, it appears that Thelma Lou's house was not on a backlot at
all, but that it was a REAL HOUSE located across the street from Desilu Studios
(now Ren-Mar studios). Apparently the production crew decided occasionaly to
shoot certain scenes on this street (Lillian Way) rather than travel to the 40
Acres backlot.

So, I was wrong! Not the first time, and it certainly won't be the last. To
those who disagreed with me, I say this: You and Aunt Bee are havin' chicken,
but I'm havin' crow!
