If you could walk through that gate, you'd find yourself in front of the Camp Henderson barracks, where the exteriors for Gomer Pyle - USMC were filmed. Gomer traveled all the way across the country to get from Mayberry to the Marine base, but Jim Nabors only had to walk a few yards!
