Brian - not sure how long you have but you'll find plenty of neat shops downtown to spend time in. The graves of the original Siamese twins ( Chang and Eng Bunker) are also right outside of town - anyone can tell you how to get to them.
Also- in nearby Hamptonville is a cool Amish store- the Shiloh General Store on St. Paul Church Rd off Highway 421. And.. if you are there on a Friday night and not much is happening in town - drive on up Highway 89 to Galax, VA ( half hour or so) for a live Bluegrass radio broadcast at the Rex Theater downtown - it's usually free and starts at 8:00 pm. A few minutes up Highway 52 is a Cana, VA. Lots of large produce stands with homegrown fruits and veggies and homemade goodies and crafts - a fun place to visit...and beautiful mountains. And of course, the Blue Ridge Parkway is just north of Mt. Airy. Enjoy your trip and eat a pork chop sandwich for me! _______________________________________________ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
