Goober may have lived in Mayberry at the age of 5, but he must have moved away shortly thereafter because in the episode "Fun Girls", Gomer introduces Goober to Andy like Andy had never met him before. But on a different subject, I always wondered why the show did not make a bigger deal of the passenger train that ran through Mayberry. A few people came in on the train, and Howard and Millie went to West Virginia on it, but the train was almost never spoken of. We have a passenger train station in our small community, and a lot of the conversation is about the train. Just wondering.
