Since I didn't get any help or concern or the great Aphid Invasion In Indiana, and the return of Henry Bennett to do some spraying from Aunt Bee's air plane...I'm going to weigh in on Tom's question. Tom K, this is an interesting questions and you will probably get varied answers, but I will jump in where I can here and try to "hang-on". The question is what do you consider "TAGS players" Using the Book "Inside Mayberry", they have a chart of main characters that does not include Hope Summers, who you mentioned. It also does not count the Darlings or Ernest T as main characters. There are two episodes that I see, so far, that have eight main characters. From the fourth season, the Rumor #125 includes Andy, Barney, Opie, Aunt Bee, Floyd, Gomer, Thelma Lou and Helen. In the Fifth Season, the episode #148 Barney runs for Sherriff, includes the same group minus Floyd, plus Otis, for eight main characters also. Now, if you count favorite guest stars..then you could get higher than that.
