I read the story of "the suit" in Mayberry 101 by Neal Brower. George Lindsey said the original suit had moth holes in it so the studio had a copy made. So, it would be the right size for Goober because it was a copy. Gomer wore it, too. I recommend Mayberry 101 for some great trivial trivialities.
