The term is used again in "Barney's Sidecar" when Andy gives Barney some oilcloth to cover the seat in the sidecar.

Janet, I suspect when Andy compliments the lady on her "Might pretty black
all-cloth coat" he is referring to her "oilcloth coat " meaning it was
waterproofed cotton. Being from deeper in the South than Andy was, my
"oils" and "alls" also sound similar.
