It's about 250 miles from Raleigh to Asheville,which I've driven many times.The ost ridiculous distance mistake was when Aunt Bee went to dinner with the ongressman in Manteo,it;s only about 350 miles away! Didn't they go to dinner in Nags Head? At "The Reef?" Or was that someone else? Also, how far that is from "Mayberry" depends upon which episode you base your location of Mayberry. In one episode, it is about 30 miles form Raleigh. According to mapquest, Raleigh is 190 miles from Manteo, so that would make it around 220 miles to Manteo. But, in other episodes it is a different distance from Raleigh. Now, if you base the trip on where Mt. Airy is located then it is almost 350 miles to Manteo. I too have made many trips from Asheville to Raleigh. I grew up in Hendersonville, and we went to Raleigh / Durham for the palyoffs in high school a lot, and then a lot of friends went Chapel Hill and N.C. State......
