Sharon asked for an explanation of the upper and lower grades. Each school year has two simesters and at the end of each semester there was a test and if you passed the test you would advance to the 2 nd semester. If you failed the first semester you would repeat it. Really it wasn't a bad thing because because if a student had a bad semester he wouldn't necessarly have to repeat the entire school year.
