Frog Gigging is a southern thing...you wouldn't understand! Ken, you stay in
the house too much! LOL!!!

To gig frogs, you need a small boat (kinda like Gertrude) a 4-6 foot long
strong stick with a very sharp pointed end, a real bright flashlight, and a
bucket. Wading boots are sometimes needed as well. You gig frogs at night on a
pond or small lake like Myers Lake. Here in western NC, most hardware stores
sell a gigging stick. It's metal with 3 sharp prongs on one end and a wooden
handle on the other. While rowing along the shoreline, use the flashlight to
spot the bullfrogs. Keep the light on them so as to "stun" them. The light
makes them sit still while you row as close as you can. Take your gigging
stick and drive it as hard as you can into the frog so you can raise up the
stick with frog attached and drop into your bucket. Keep in mind that you are
actually frog hunting (killing frogs) When you have harvested a good amount of
frogs, you can now take them back home, chop off their rear legs, roll them in
baking flour an fry them up on a skillet! Only the rear legs are good for
eating! Goooood eatin' I'm here to tell ya!!! Tastes a lot like fried
chicken...another southern thing.

Here in WNC we also grow good sized cucumbers too!!!
