I don't think it's strange that Helen said she wanted to work for a while
before getting married. That statement does not reflect the idea that she would
quit once she was married. She was simply stating a fact. And with Andy saying
he expected they both would know when they were ready only implied that they
were still getting to know one another. I think it was a very logical
conclusion they both agreed on. One more level of understanding between two
people in a new relationship, developing a stronger respect for each other.

I never wanted to work, I couldn't wait to graduate and get married. I wanted
to be a housewife, mother and community volunteer. Maybe it was all the Doris
Day movies I watched growing up. She got the perfect husband, perfect kids,
perfect house, perfect life. Of course she had the perfet looks to swing
it......I should sure Doris Day for the simple fact that my life didn't turn
out like hers, which I came to expect watching all those movies. What a reality
check I got!!!

My mother was an elementary school teacher but when us kids came along, she
quit until we were in school and then she went back to work as a kindergarten
teacher so she could be home when we came home from school. Some of my favorite
memories are of the aroma from dinner cooking when I walked in the house, and
hearing her first words "Hi honey, how was school?" I'd sit at the kitchen
table doing homework and helping her with dinner. I am very domesticated and
proud of it. I keep a neat house, never made anyone sick with my cooking and
can read and write a little.

Harriet, who would never marry one of her chickens
......"Johnny Paul Jason says chewing tar is good for your teeth"..."That's an
old wives tale"...."Johnny Paul ain't married"........
