I watched an "I Love Lucy" episode where the Ricardos gave the Mertz's a 20"
television for their 25th wedding anniversary. This reminded me of "The Jinx"
episode on TAGS. I believe this is the first time a tv set is seen. The Mertz's
tv had a round picture tube..Did the one Henry Bennet win have a round one? It
look more retangular. I didnt think they made a rectangular tv tube that early.
The other thing I noticed was the TAGS tv obviously didnt have a picture tube
in it because tv's back then had a huge protrubing back to accomodate the tube
and had it had a tube Andy wouldn't have been able to sling it around the way
he did because those tubes were heavy. I know when my wife and I married our
first tv was a Sylvania 'halo glow' floor model round tube. The idea was you
could turn off the lights in the room and a frosted halo light would light up
around the picture tube supposedly making it easier on the eyes to
watch...Those tv models only lasted a
couple of years..Does anyone remember watching one of those TV models.
