Briscoe, I also watch Turner Classic Movies quite a bit. A few weeks ago, I
loved seeing Howard McNear as the coroner in Anatomy of a Murder with Jimmy
Stewart. Great movie.
Dewey, your mention of a potato gun reminded me of something we used to do.
We'd search our mother's potato bins for potatos that were soft and almost
rotten. Then we'd take them out to play army. A bicycle kickstand was great
for punching 2 or 3 holes an inch or so into the potato. Then we'd put a
firecracker in each hole, light them and fling the potato like a grenade. Soft
potato makes great shrapnel.
