I just finished watching an old episode of "The Donna Reed Show" entitled "Pickles for Charity". It had some similarities to TAGS' "Pickle Story". Donna Stone decided to make home made pickles to sell to raise money for the hospital. When trying to sell them, they gave away free samples, but no one would buy any after tasting them. Turns out Alex and the kids had to give all the jars away and pretend they were sold. She decided to make 300 pounds because they sold so well, but unlike with Andy's deception, she discovered they gave all her pickles away. Rather than being hurt, she thought it was wonderful that her family loved her so much they tried to spare her hurt feelings. Another big difference was the Stone family actually loved her pickles. No Mayberry sightings in this episode but there was a Mayfield sighting as Tooey, from Leave it to Beaver was working in the store where they sold the pickles.
