As we are well aware, Opie's education and the relationship with his teacher Miss Crump, was an important theme in many of the TAGS episodes. If you have been following the news lately then you are aware that here in Wisconsin we are having some very contencious events happening here between our teachers and their labor union. It has created a bitter debate and has caused a lot of ill will among family members and friends. Today I had the pleasure of doing my Mayberry presentation to a group of retired teachers in Eau Claire. We had a great time. During our lunch after my talk many of the teachers came up to me and thanked me for being there. They said they enjoyed it so much as it brought back so many memories and they felt it was just what they needed to help them escape from all the problems we are having right now within our state. And isn't that what Mayberry is all about. A place where one can go to escape all the problems and stresses of life that can cause so much grief and pain in one's life.
