Andy Clyde was much more than a "sidekick." He was a comedy star going back to
the 1920s, appearing in short subjects (and features) with fellow silent
comedians Billy Bevan, Chester Conklin and many more at the Mack Sennett
Studios. Frome 1934 - 1956 he was Columbia Studios' # 2 short subject star
(behind the Three Stooges), starring in 79 comedies.

Few of Andy's shorts are on home video, but that's slowly changing. June 5, as
part of Sony/Columbia's "The Three Stooges: The Ultimate Collection," several
bonus DVDs will feature solo non-stooge comedies with Shemp Howard, Joe Besser
and Joe DeRita, none before on home video (and absent from TV and theatres for
50+ years). Shemp Howard costarred in several Andy Clyde shorts, and three of
them will be on these bonus discs... HOME ON THE RAGE (1938), MONEY SQUAWKS
(1940) and the hilarious BOOBS IN THE WOODS (1940).

The bonus discs will [tentatively] be available separately later in 2012. If
you have the chance, I highly recommend them for an opportunity to see Andy
Clyde at what he did best... homespun, slapstick farce.

Frank Meyers (Andy Clyde) was Hopalong Cassidy's sidekick,
