When Aunt Bee was dating Mr. Goss, they called him Fred. When Barney takes his suit in because of all the dog hairs, the sign on the store stays H. Goss. Inside the store, Andy never calls him anything but "Goss."
However, there is no discrepancy. In the credits for "Jailbreak," Fred Sheman is listed as H. Goss. In "Wedding Bells for Aunt Bee," he is listed as H. Fred Goss.
