"By the way I noticed that Andy introduces Goober as Goober Beasley to the tv producer for Sheriff without a gun but later on inthe series Goober gets the name Pyle. Curious, curious." David Oberly
David, several years ago I had a close friend ask George Lindsey about that, because I had always wondered about it as well. George told her that sometimes Andy liked to use names of his friends on the show, and evidently he was friends with a "Beasley" family. Besides "Goober Beasley," there was Juanita Beasley, Barney's unseen girl at the diner. And one of the suitors Andy sent the way of Miss Ellie to " put her on the scent of other game" was Charlie Beasley. Maybe there was another reason, but this was Mr. Lindsey's take on it.
