Looking at the calendar, we're about months out from Mayberry Days (It's BIG!), so I'd like to remind everyone about the WBMUTBB Silent Auction and introduce it to our new members. This is our chapter's annual fund raising event that sponsors the Surry Arts Council's efforts to bring the festival to life. It is held on Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m. to Noon (weather permitting) in front of the Andy Griffith Playhouse, although last year we had good success with it on the stage inside.
This will be our 14th event where our wonderfully talented and creative members of WBMUTBB have donated Mayberry related things to the auction - handmade items, memorabilia, autographed items, special one-of-a-kind things that aren’t sold in stores. We’ve already got a few great items donated and certainly welcome more and different things again this year. Donated items are tax deductible as a donation to a non-profit organization (the IRS shares the love as well!). There are three ways to help – donating items for bid, donating your time during the auction, and bidding on auction items (and bless the hearts of those who do all three!). I hope some of you will consider helping with the auction – putting things out to bid, keeping track of bid sheets, and answering questions. It is only a couple hours and gives you a chance to visit with folks and help out others.
