I just heard on the radio that September is National Chicken Month. To celebrate, some special events will be held in Mayberry this weekend.
There will be a chicken throwing contest. Husbands throw chickens at their wives. There will be a chicken Ala king eating contest. Barney, "the chicken" will give judo demonstrations. Autograph sessions will be given by Opie.s "Bo" and Frank Myers' "Hazel". A dance will be held and dancers will be judged for prizes for the Chicken Dance. A chicken beauty pageant will be held and will be judged by Otis Campbell. The festivities will end with a grand parade on Sunday. The Grand Marshall will be Colonel Sanders. The new Miss Chicken will be riding in an open convertible and she will be wearing a swimsuit made completely from chicken feathers.
