Hi Mayberry Friends, The episode where Andy, Barney and Gomer take the boys camping reminds me of an episode of the Great Gildersleeve. Barney says he wants to keep hiking further, but is winded, then he and Gomer get lost trying to find Opie.
I was listening to Gildy in the car yesterday, and he takes his nephew Leroy and two of his little friends on a hike. The boys want to keep going, and Gildersleeve is plumb out of breath. When he sits down to rest, the boys take off running. Ken is right, there are a lot of wonderful similarities between these two shows. Floyd the barber is one. The boys gather in his barbershop and talk about life's goings on, like in Mayberry. Gildersleeve is always trying to be helpful, but gets himself into a lot of jams like Barney!
