Ken Anderson, you mentioned it being unusual to have pools in the high school pre-WWII. I'm no expert, but it did make me think of "It's a Wonderful Life" and the pool in their high school. (Movie was made in the 40's, with scene supposedly taking place in the 20's.) Apparently, the director, Frank Capra, found out that the gym floor turned into a swimming pool so decided to make that part of the movie. J
