In the book I own, called "Mayberry 101", they have a list of some of the
mistakes made during the 8 year run of TAGS. Some are obvious, like Barney's
middle name/middle initial changing, and Goober being referred to one time as
Goober Beazley.
This morning I was watching the episode "Opie's First Love", and at the start
Opie and Arnold Bailey come into the Taylor kitchen where Arnold announces that
he is having his 13th birthday party. Then Aunt Bee says "13 years, it just
seems like yesterday I got your birth announcement".
Now, since Aunt Bee did not move to Mayberry until Opie and Arnold were
approximately 6 years old, and since that was the very first time Opie had ever
laid eyes on Aunt Bee, why would Dr. and Mrs. Bailey send Arnold's birth
announcement to someone in West Virginia that they probably were not even
acquainted with? I could see Aunt Bee receiving a birth announcement for
Opie, but for Arnold? Unlikely.

and Martha tried to keep Evan's birth secret.
