I remember when Andy was explaining " vanity " to Opie after the Rock Hudson ( or was it Cary Grant ) movie ( am I right about that?) . But I think the most extreme case of vanity is Andy and Helen in ( Barney and the cave rescue ) when instead of going back to Barney and Thelma, they decide to go into town to clean up. Helen said " I cant let anyone see me like this " , ( with dirt all over her dress). I mean jeez, whats going to become of her and Andy if they are seen by their two best friends dirty ? And they were eventually seen with dirt on them by the whole town anyways. And getting a hitch from the first car that drives by is hard to believe as well.
