I taped an old movie recently on TCM; it was called "Four Wives." I only
watched a few minutes but there in that early timeframe, a young girl
was playing the violin and I distinctly heard the strains of "Welcome
Sweet Springtime!" According to IMBD, that film was released in 1939 so
it was quite the old tune by the time Mayberry's choir was performing
it. But then we often hear analyses stating that Mayberry was actually
stuck in the 30s so there you go!
