From what I can tell, "jigging" is simply dropping a weighed jig, baited with a maggot, to the bottom, then lifting it six inches or so from the bottom and “jigging” it up and down to attract fish. I defer to the expert ice fishermen to clarify it better. But the point he (Matthew McConaughey) was making is that sitting in a heated SUV was better than sitting out on the ice in a shanty pulling a fishing line up and down.
