Jeff, thanks for the neat story about Charles Dowell and the origin of his chili. I go with Hormel too, mostly because we only have a couple choices of bean-free canned chili up here. Never heard of Bunker Hill chili, Ron - must be a regional brand?
The combination of ingredients does sound like it might cause a "tummy ache" - but it didn't (although it did really fill me up). I followed the original Snappy Lunch recipe as close as I could - nothing extra, and nothing left out. If and when they allow fans at NFL games again, when it's my turn to cook at our Buffalo Bills tailgate get-together, I just might serve the famous pork chop sandwich to my fellow fans! And.....I tried like heck to find that episode of "The Untouchables" online - no luck.
