OUCH ! Watching The Gypsies episode . Aunt Bee was complaining about the price of produce, she asked Andy if he knew how much a head of lettuce was. He replied " 4 dollars ". 4 dollars ? !!!
Has lettuce ever been 4 dollars a head,,.... especially in the late 60s ? Found Lettuce was 25 cents a head back in 1966 . As I remember Mayberry had been without rain for 8 weeks at the time of the gypsies. That was some steep price the writer put in the script !
