In season 8, episode "Emmett's Brother in Law", Emmett took an insurance job with Martha's brother. When they came back from a week's training course, Martha's brother said they let Raleigh at 7 o'clock and pulled into Mayberry around midnight - a five-hour drive. Either Martha's brother is the world's slowest driver, or they had serious car trouble, or else they had bumper-to-bumper traffic all the way.
