Just a suggestion, instead of re-writing all the country stuff, why dontcha look on a site that already has the all the countries listed alphabetically and you can just copy it - a site I know that has it all, is: http://www.gov.au/survey/survey.html They have Australia selected, but I am sure you know how to have whatever country you want instead selected, or have nothing selected, just have a "please select country" or whatever there.
