I enjoyed the discussion of pricing for web work. I had a recent client who wanted me to improve the textual content of his web site, and turn on some Search Engine Optimization in the copy and so on.
It was a little schlocky web site for personal storage units. A web content mgmt. friend said I should charge $500, but I already quoted the client $300. When I sent a Work Order to the client, for him to sign and send back to me, it never came back to me. I'm too busy with larger fish to fry, so I dropped the whole little project like a hot french fry with too much catsup on it. I give 50% discount to friends and faith-based organizations, who generally are on shoe string budgets.
