<TIP>

In xhtml to get a browser to use all of its window for a page that would
normally render at less
than the available screen real estate you can apply a css background element to
the html tag, rather
than the <body>. This can include background images as well.......validated
example:

html {
background-image : url(images/Nikau_largemod.jpg);
background-repeat : no-repeat;
background-position : 50% 50%;
}

this will not, of itself, shift any footer to the bottom of the screen display,
usual solutions for
that still apply, but does allow you to fill the bottom of the screen with a
background colour or
image if you also apply a background to the <body> tag........
