There is a freeware program called Real Alternative one can install if you
really don't want Real Player.

OK, I realize that my last was a bit abrupt. Since then I have visited the
CBS News site and confirmed that, yep, they require Real Player. So, I
went to the ABC and NBC news sites and, hey, guess what? No Real Player
required. The upshot is that you do not have to install that devil's
spawn, buggy, intrusive Real Networks software to watch news videos. You
do have options. Please do yourself a favor and exercise them.
