Hey all, I'm wanting to build an employee directory including names, alpha-numeric corporate ID, phone, pager, building, and department numbers. The directory already exists in an Access db, but relies on FrontPage extensions for search functions, and has stopped working. I didn't develop it, and the person that did no longer works here. I want to rebuild the directory as an XML document. I'm completely new to XML but with the help of W3Schools, I'm learning quickly. Building the XML file is a piece of cake, and writing a DTD doesn't look too difficult but searching within the document seems to be a challenge. I'm reading up on xPath which seems to be the right tool for the job except that I can't figure out how to search for string values. Finding elements and nodes and doing mathematical computations seems easy but what about the string things? Can anyone point me in the right direction on this? Anybody have any good examples? I'm not looking for a WYSIWYG editor. I want to write the queries my own darn self. I like knowing how things work on the inside. Any help with this will be appreciated.
