Hi, I just deleted the old directory and re-uploaded a fresh one using Hostway's online ftp program...still no luck...everything works but the index.php file still gives the same error message... Thanks so much for your help on this....any other ideas I can try?

I think the index page has somehow become owned by the server itself, so you must use a script on same server such as their uploader to manipulate it.
