permissions error you are getting is from the server or WP, are you
getting a 403 error from Apache? If not and it's from WP, then that's
correct behaviour as well. Maybe something in your browser, try clearing
your cookies maybe?

Thanks for the advice. I've moved the cookies, killed the files and got to
a login form. But even though I get an updated password I still get
redirected to the profile.php and told i don't have enough permissions.
I set up a new account at level 10 (top) and still I can't get in via the
browser. It also seems that apart from the blog home page nothing else
gets found, when I click the limited links on the page.
I am abandoning this and setting up a parrallel blog. If that doesn't work
I can only assume Wordpress is not for me.
I'll start the ball rolling tonight and try to get further ahead to morrow.
Thanks for the help Mark. It just seems there is something not right that
is maybe in the tables, or in the path - maybe a page got a space
somehow....
I'm not advanced enough in php to dig deep.
