My boss has an external sea_gate drive and wants me to test if her back
up is working and also make sure I know how to restore from the back up

There is typically an interface with the backup software. If the
Seagate is the drive to which the backup has been sent, that's where
you should look for the backups. To test you can select a directory on
the backup drive and restore it to a different location on the active
pc. Doesn't have to be a lot of information, just enough to show it
works. Maybe a small documents file restored to "test directory".
Normally you just drill down to the directory you want and specify the
path to where you want the information restored and click "go",
"start", "restore" or whatever is appropriate. I
The interface should also allow you to review what is being backed up
and what the schedule is in case you need to make changes. This will
give you the most recent backup date, etc. If 11/20 is the last actual
backup, you'll probably want to recommend a change in the schedule:
weekly incremental is common.
It's good to have the manual for all of this and with luck it will be
available online if you can't locate it.Otherwise post what the backup
software is and likely someone has experience with it or the manual.
