Hi list
I'm trying to write a simple calendar and booking system in PHP. What I
want to achieve is assigning a timeslot to any given course from a
database. The course would define its duration in days and using that
information allocate time in the calendar.
My PHP is rudimentary at best and although I can do basic
database-driven stuff, I'm having a hard time approaching this one. How
do I go about generating a calendar? How do I assign time slots and
avoid weekends? I've tried downloading a number of calendars and booking
systems to try and reverse engineer, or at least see how they've
approached it, but everything's either paid for, heavily complex (and
thus goes over my head mostly) or don't do what I want.
So, I turn to you guys here. I guess for now I'm really after
enlightenment on the fundamentals of it all - how do I structure my
database and generate a calendar. From there I guess once I know how my
days are stored I can work out how to assign different data to those
dates, but any tips on that would be good.
Ta muchly for any pointers on this one.
Ross (hardly MOU any more!)
