No doubt you read all the replies at weavelist.

I personally never saw that as being a great success because of the
occasions of shift heddles around.....I did like the idea of painting the
heddles bars so that you could see at a glance where you were.....the only
problem with that on my workhorse is that the bars are metal and with
humidity here - the rust dust would soon cover any colour. And my other
loom doesn't do any moving of heddles nor it there terribly much point in
colourations.

I just spend a bit more time and thread in manageable blocks......not that
I re-thread all that much.....and if I make a mistake then it becomes a
variation. 

I was reading in one of this years Handwovens - the editor had written
about the 2 distinct types of weavers. The structure/pattern versus the
colour/texture person. I definitely fall into the 2nd scenario.
