Which is what I was trying to address.  I think you are supposed to be
able to get away with doing so for the default domain only

The docs say that it can be done. I was users in the default domain to not have to enter the FQUN, but users in other domains will have to enter the FQUN, but I have not been able to make it work. This is my current imap.conf, but I have tried variations...
