Hi Thomas,
OOPS I am sorry, I somehow have not mailed this to web-hurd. Anyways this
is the procedure I sent to other GSoC participants. Thanks
for the interest.
As we had planned in last week's meeting (August, 1st 2008) I have
setup
a backup repository at github.com. Even though tschwinge has got things
done to
have a wiki repository at savannah this still continues to exist as a backup
if something
goes wrong some time and tschwinge is not available at the time. This is in
no way to
disagree with what he has done (I have lots of respect for him and for the
work he is
doing to Hurd) or to compete with the actual Hurd Wiki. This backup is only
to keep
GSoC projects going smoothly if something breaks down and we have no one to
fix it.
The details of getting the commit access is as follows.
1. First of all please register at github.com(The procedure is really
simple. It should
not take more than 2 minutes to complete the registration procedure.)
2. Upload the SSH Keys to your account at github.com
This is the procedure to upload the keys if by any chance you are looking
how to do
it on github.com.
*Step a)*
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ *ssh-keygen -t rsa*
Generating public/private rsa key pair.
Enter file in which to save the key (/home/madhu/.ssh/id_rsa): <enter>
Enter passphrase (empty for no passphrase): <enter password>
Enter same passphrase again: <re-enter password>
Your identification has been saved in /home/madhu/.ssh/id_rsa.
Your public key has been saved in /home/madhu/.ssh/id_rsa.pub.
The key fingerprint is:
50:43:77:c6:97:af:61:82:dc:ea:9b:6b:67:d4:1b:61 [EMAIL PROTECTED]
*Step b)
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/.ssh$ *cat id_rsa.pub*
ssh-rsa
AAAAB3NzaC1yc2EAAAABIwAAAQEA3kK2crfD2K2iPdbr3vBxNbI4s645zNiQJt4pL771D8zCPGFs3oFVSMxMcAZ+LghTWa8J7SwYkaDGsRxAnZ7HH0C9Z+kjfzkS1pPzNlRwOZgsD/hTUm6TBbYNy1gBROSCyShiivNAGAp/iaa5L1wdoz2JR1Yyw8KR0FoZNv1qHJiMPv30fpptKKxsLUnh/36Nwmto8t06Y2fxZ4uU3ki3/kIaK/wSyWJn0RdvHNiRbKmSZHXPu+zUpo135jCXbH9eYrq77w7h2c/F8qCeggs9y95qG0LnwELDvyuSU9CV1lPmMJKrL2qPlXWFP3PX83SxK7z9W1+iQsDJ2DUsqg3BMw==
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
Copy this key from ssh-rsa upto [EMAIL PROTECTED](this will be different for
you of course)
*Step c)*
Now login to your account at github.com. Click on the account link next to
your login
name at the right top corner of the screen. In the accounts page that
appears under the
section called SSH Public Keys click on "add another public key". Give some
title as
you wish and paste the key you have copied in the previous step into the
text area
provided for Keys. Click on Add Key.
3. After this please send me out (preferably through email) your login names
at
github.com I will add that to the list of committers.
4. To clone the repository, the public clone URL is
git://github.com/madhusudancs/hurdwiki.git
and those who want to clone the repository to commit can use this
[EMAIL
PROTECTED]:madhusudancs/hurdwiki.git<http://github.com/madhusudancs/hurdwiki/tree/[EMAIL
PROTECTED]:madhusudancs/hurdwiki.git>
You can use the former one if the latter does not work before adding your
name to the list of committers. (But me being online for most part of the
the day, adding your name to the committers list should not take much time).
You can always switch the URL your git uses by using a couple of very simple
commands if you want to do so for committing.
This should give the commit access. Thanks for tolerating with me. I wish
this
repository will be of some use to all of you.
