It seems like a good idea to me. I dislike dependencies. I have been working this way for a while and have been wondering about the same thing. Being able to use WSGI to wire up the components of an application (or framework or "application profile") enables more choice and flexibility. Relieving a dependency between a specific dispatcher and that which is dispatched to further serves the same ends.
