Same problem here. Any hints?

Did the exact procedure described in
http://web2py.com/book/default/chapter/11#Start-as-Linux-Daemon
and I get:
$ sudo /etc/init.d/web2py start
No process in pidfile '/var/run/web2py/web2py.pid' found running; none
killed.
start-stop-daemon: Unable to start /usr/lib/python: Permission denied
