I have the same problem, and it doesn't work remotely.

Just for reference, I saw it is corrected in the latest version. It was 
line 2918 in tools.py:

user = table_user(**{userfield:form.vars.get(userfield)})

instead of

            user = table_user(**{userfield:form.vars.email})
